11 Aug VCOM Brigade
The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) has finally returned after about three years of no visits due to the complications of the pandemic. This time they traveled with a group of 47, including preceptors and students. The students who participate are first and second year med students who are getting some hands-on experience in treating patients. The students assess, diagnose, and propose a treatment plan to their preceptor. The preceptor uses the opportunity to teach and redirect as needed. It’s a great experience for the students, not just the cultural experience, but also the learning opportunity. This team was able to treat 100 patients per day and finished their week treating about 30 children in a crisis care center in town. We love our partnership with VCOM and look forward to hosting them several times per year moving forward.
