09 Oct Coming Soon: MUR 2024 Year End Campaign “It Takes A Village”
By Phil Waldron, co-founder and CEO
For many years now you, our readers and devoted supporters, have participated in our year end fundraising campaign that usually contributes to more than 50% of the operating cost of our annual ministry costs. Be on the lookout for your package in the mail in the not-too-distant future. It will include a letter from me as CEO and a 2025 wall calendar filled with stories of lives that have been impacted by your donation dollars.
This year’s theme of, “It Takes a Village,” is meant to reflect what the Bible explains the role of the church to be in His divine plan. When the church is functioning the way that God designed it to function, she is filled with people who know that they are sinners “condemned unclean” but are deeply loved by the only one who can forgive their sins and make them just and holy. God’s design for His church is that all the elements (members) support and build one another up so that, as a whole, each of the parts is made holy and perfect. This is deep stuff. It is so deep that the Apostle writes, referring to Christ and the church, that “this is a profound mystery.” Despite its profundity and mysteriousness, it is true, nonetheless.
There are so many facets of this truth that we could elaborate on that it is impossible to touch on all of them here. One of those facets, though, that comes to my mind is how we here at Mission UpReach are the extension of what you are doing in the Kingdom, i.e., your donations and prayers are what sustains us in this effort. Without you, we would collapse, close our doors and go home to the US. The results would be that the concerted effort that we administrate would disappear. We all know that the “battle is the Lord’s” and that He delights in doing the impossible with the least amount or least qualified resources. However, your continued support week after week, month after month, allows us to continue to help mold and shape people into the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus.
It is delightful to see the leaders that have developed from these 15 years of effort. Young couples that were children when they first came to church through their contact with our DESEO public school values education ministry are now leaders in different ministries. And there are middle aged couples that have been matured to be the older leaders in the church. As I write these words, I am reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words in Ephesians 4:12-13, where he said,
“12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
This passage underscores and directs our every effort here. And you are a necessary and important part of us fulfilling this mission. Thank you for being a part of our Village.
