Today a Honduran newspaper is reporting that the International Airport in San Pedro Sula had flood water covering the terminal and the airstrip higher than Hurricane Mitch produced back in October 1998. Last time it took 45 days for the Government to rehabilitate the Airport for passenger travel.

The Government is presently clearing 1.5km of the airstrip in order to begin bringing in international relief flights. The first one is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM. These facts emphasize the size and complexity of the relief that is going to be needed. Thousands of families in the Sula Valley have lost everything.

Many people have been asking us how they can help.

Given the circumstances as we see them today we are suggesting that people donate money to Mission UpReach so that we can deliver chicken to the neediest. You can pay for a whole chicken that weighs 4.25 pounds for $4.25 USD. This will provide meat for at least four family members for a meal. These donations will provide food at no cost to the neediest and it will also provide income that pays salaries of our more than 125 employees that are the primary support for their families.

If you would like to donate to help people with this valuable source of life-sustaining food you can complete the secure donation form here, or you can Venmo donations to: Phil Waldron@missionupreach and the money will go directly into Mission UpReach’s bank account.
