05 Apr Dr. Brad Russell Leads Medical Team
Brad Russell has led 8 teams over the past 10 years. His teams have always consisted of individuals from various churches, cities, or states. Each year he introduces new people to Mission UpReach, blessing us with new partnerships. This year was no exception. Brad led a team of 34 people, ready and willing to serve. With such a large team, this group was able to reach out to not only a community through a village clinic, but also were able to send two different smaller groups into public schools to offer the children a basic health checkup. These two teams joined with our DESEO members and went to several of the schools that we work in. While most of the children were healthy, this team did discover some serious health concerns in a couple of the children and were instrumental in getting them referred to specialists. The team that set up a clinic in the village of Villami was able to serve 814 people. This team had a very special experience their second day of clinic. There was a fatal and sad bus accident on the highway leading to Villami. The team sat on the bus hoping the highway would reopen from 6:30 am until 1:00 pm. Unfortunately, the highway did not reopen until late afternoon. The next day, the team was determined to attend to as many people as they could. They saw a record number of 572 patients in one day. The community felt blessed and appreciative. The school teams were able to see 530 children in four days. We feel so blessed by such teams, especially when they persevere in hardship with great attitudes. Thank you, Brad and your team, for your service!
