18 Dec A Note From Donna
As this year winds down and we look forward to what’s ahead, we wish for you and yours the most blessed holiday season. Despite the challenges of this year, we have so much to be thankful for. As you can read in our articles, we have wrapped up a very successful year with the students at Project Moses. Being a part of their year-end event and graduation centered me tremendously as it reminded me of the impact this program has had and is having in the lives of these incredible young men. What an honor to be a small part of their lives. Just today (the day I am writing this article) I was able to spend some one-on-one time with the candidates of the program for 2025. It brought pure joy to me as I asked them open ended questions that revealed their values and their hearts and their sincere desire to be a part of something that will likely change the trajectory of their lives. What a privilege and honor it is for me. As I have spent several hours this past month in the planning of our annual Bible camp, being in awe of the creativity and passion of the young men and women who will lead our camp this coming year, I have questioned why I get to play a small role in this great event. Listening to the young adults, who it seems only yesterday were campers, share the details of the plans they have put together for campers this year, leaves me with a heart of incredible gratitude to God for all He has done over the past years here in Honduras. Suddenly it seems that our hopes and dreams are coming to fruition, and not because of us, but because God is a promise keeper, the One who takes our mustard seed faith and moves huge mountains. There are so many more mountains to move, and we do feel weary, but we know that God, who sustains us and loves us will continue to do great things. We are so thankful to have each of you as our partners on this journey. We pray that you too can experience the awe of what God has done. I pray that as you give to Mission UpReach in response to our year end plea, you will be able to sense the impact you are having in lives of individuals you may never meet this side of heaven. I don’t expect that once in heaven we will get a reporting on the return of our investments into spreading the Kingdom of God, but I do like to imagine we will meet people who our generosity changed for eternity. In that moment, if we haven’t realized it before then, we will see clearly that it all belonged to God anyway and that He allowed us the privilege and honor of sharing in His work on earth. Thank you for your partnership and for entrusting us with your generosity. May God bless you and your family as you enjoy the holidays and begin another new year.
