These past few months have been quite emotional for Phil and I for various reasons. Our visit to Mexico was beautiful, and we are convinced God used that time to refresh our spirits and remind us that the impact of our service today may not be felt for some time. While with our brothers and sisters in Cozumel, there were several occasions when it was said, “I always say this because it’s what Brother Phil said to me.” Or “I learned from Brother Phil that if I am to lead I should do it with all my heart and strength.” Interestingly, Phil would look at me and say, “did I say that?” It’s all proof that God uses us and that sometimes we don’t even know what part of our words or actions are going to make the most impact. We are sure we should never underestimate how God might use us.
These past few months have also had some sadness, as we have had 3 individuals we have been praying diligently for pass from this life. Fortunately, they were all saved individuals who simply moved on to eternity with God. However, they have left behind spouses, children, parents and even grandchildren that now have the challenge of figuring out life without them. These are all reminders of the brevity of life. For me, it is a reminder to do what I can today to bring God’s love to others.
