This is the month our team visits remote communities to look for potential candidates for Project Moses. Home visits are helpful and necessary in this process. It gives families the opportunity to hear firsthand about the program and what it offers. It helps parents connect with our team, which provides confidence as they contemplate sending their young men away to study.This visit also includes an explanation of the expectations we have for the parents, as well as the students. While the program is free, we recognize the emotional price parents pay as they allow their young son to leave home. We encourage them to be strong and encourage their sons to stay in the program when the inevitable discouragements come. It is beautiful to see the sincere love these parents have for their boys and how deeply they desire that their children receive an education that will provide for a better future. Of course, it helps that we can now share that our boys won the league championship in soccer this year. Soccer is the most beloved pastime and knowing their boys will have opportunities to grow and develop in this sport is a positive thing for most parents. Would you pray as we go through the selection process? Once boys are identified, we invite them to spend several days with us on the farm to see it firsthand and experience being away from home. It gives us the opportunity to get to know the boys as well as identify the support each boy might need to be successful. We ended this year with 19 young men and hope to add10 this coming year.
